Easter Holiday homework

Hi All,
Hope you are having a nice holiday. 
Just a reminder that you need to return to college knowing your assessment song inside out. I will not be expecting so see any word sheets being used once we are back.  If you put in the time to know your song securely, then your confidence will improve and you will be able to put your efforts into the required performance skills.  I am looking forward to hearing your songs.

Backing Tracks

I have checked and there  are backing tracks available for all your songs on you tube. Just enter your song title followed by karaoke. I will bring in a CD on Wednesday with all your tracks on that can be kept in the office. Keep practicing. Clare

Solos

Well done everybody for singing your solos this week.  I know that many of you were very nervous, but you all did very well.  It was lovely to eventually hear your individual voices and rewarding to discover that all of you have heaps of potential.
Following last weeks task to learn your song melody using the siren, I would like you to spend time making sure you really know the melody of your song. A useful exercise would be to sing the song line by line recording yourself.  Listen back to check how well your really know each note.  Try to do this with a backing track ( many available on you tube and spotify) or unaccompanied. Also begin to learn your words.  All this preparation will mean that we can concentrate on the technical and performance aspects of your songs.

Next lesson I would like to spend five minutes with each of you individually to hear you sing. Please let me know a song you would like to do by 9am Monday.  If you have sheet music and a backing track please bring it with you.  If not, I will attempt to get them for you. It would make sense to use whatever you are practicing this week so that you come prepared. Don't panic if you only know part of the song.  That is fine.

This weeks singing task

Good to see some of you blogging.  Please remember to spend some time working on one  song of your choice this week.  I suggest a half hour session.  Followed by several 10 minute slots on the following days.  Make sure you accurately know the melody and try to learn the words.  If you find this particularly challenging, you could concentrate on a verse and chorus of the song.
